Luberon Villages

The villages of the Luberon offer you a unique opportunity to explore the heart of Provence! Set in a landscape of vineyards, olive trees and orchards, you will be transported to a place of dreams. Many villages are perched on the Mountains of the Luberon or the Month de Vaucluse and some have these mountains as a stunning backdrop. The Luberon National Park, Gordes and Lourmarin are just some of the places that should not be missed! Let us tell you a story of the history of the Luberon while meeting its people, indulging in its beauty as well as its food and wine. Expect the unexpected here in Provence!

  • Day 1

    Gordes

A day or two exploring the Luberon is a “must” when visiting Provence. Gordes, known as one of the most beautiful villages in France, is one of our favorite destinations. This is a great place to call home for a night or two. Perched on a craggy mountaintop, approaching the village of Gordes is like seeing something out of a storybook. The chateau, listed as a historic monument, was built between the 11th and 16th centuries. Take some time with your driver/guide to explore off the beaten path. Visit the cellars of the Palais Saint Firmin, which will introduce you to the rock dwellings in the area that were once very important. Continue on along the winding cobblestone streets to breathe in the essence of this breathtaking village.

Just outside of Gordes is the Senanque Abbey, an active Cistercian monastery founded in 1148. This is the perfect place to stop for some photos and exploration.

  • Day 2

    Lourmarin

Follow the small winding country roads from village to village, taking in the region forged by the presence of Romans, the rich history of the Popes and the Jewish population that was in the area. Built on the south-facing slope of the Luberon, the village of Lourmarin is quite peaceful. Your guide will take you to visit the oldest part of the village, a network of narrow winding streets, leading to the church. The current heart of the village winds around this historical center. Enjoy the idyllic scenery, as you walk past the graceful squares, explore the art galleries, sidewalk cafés and restaurants. Be sure to taste the Gibassier pastry while in town! Next, you will visit the castle, built in the 15th century atop where a 12th century fortress once stood. Lourmarin inspired many famous artists and writers. You will see why!”

  • Day 3

    Luberon National Park

Are you interested in more active pursuits while in Provence? In the very heart of the region is the Luberon Regional Natural Park. Here, you can enjoy the outstanding natural beauty while walking its hiking trails that cross the Luberon or the Vaucluse Mountains. Of course, cycling is another great option! Cycling along the winding roads and trails is an excellent thing to do with your own private guide, taking you to see all of the most beautiful vistas. Of course, you can stop along the way for a picnic and a sip of rosé while relaxing.

  • Day 4

    Food & Wine Experiences

Do you love food and wine? The Luberon is the home of charming local markets, wine makers, olives, melon and Michelin-starred chefs. Let us take you through the winding Wine Roads, discovering gorgeous landscapes and meeting the professionals who make the wines, sharing in their enthusiasm (and tasting their wine). See the people and taste the wine at their estates. These are magical moments! Of course, our guides know the best places to go based on your tastes!

Visit an olive oil mill, drinking in the fragrance of freshly-pressed oil. Taste a tapenade of ground olives with garlic, anchovies and capers as you wander through the olive groves. Taste the sweet melon of the village of Cavaillon or indulge in some chocolate tasting with a local master chocolate maker.

We love to visit traditional Provençal markets on Market Day! Our guides know the best markets and which days are “market days” within the Luberon. Visit the markets to indulge in fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, pastries and oils. Perhaps you would like to visit a market with your own private chef! After shopping together, return to his kitchen to cook some classic Provençal dishes together. A private cooking class is the ultimate experience here!

If you can dream it, we can make it happen!
