St.Malo

Saint Malo

Founded in the 1st century BC by Celtic tribesmen, Saint Malo has a fascinating history. It was here in the 6th century that two Irish monks, Brendan and Aaron, established a monastery. It was once also the home of privateers or pirates, who would use Saint Malo as their home base in between their raucous adventures. Of course, Jacques Cartier, one of the town’s most famous sailors, is known to have discovered Canada. It’s worth exploring Saint Malo both within and outside the city walls. Inside the walls, is the Citadel of Saint Malo and the Old Town with its labyrinth of cobblestone streets. A visit to the 13th century cathedral is a must! Outside the walls are sandy beaches and offshore islands. Of course, Saint Malo is also a food lover’s paradise!

Pink Granite Coast

The Pink Granite Coast a/k/a the “Cote de Granite Rose” is one of the highlights of a visit to Brittany. Stretching over 20 km. along the coast of Brittany, the pink granite formations are a delight to see! This is a place of spectacular natural beauty. Marvel at the strange sculpted pink-hued rocks, which look like pieces of a giant granite puzzle. This is a perfect place to get a feel for the region as the cool breezes whip off the ocean. Perros Guirec is the most popular resort here, with beaches of fine pink sand.

Mystical Carnac

Mystical Carnac, with its megalithic standing stones is truly a wonder! These granite stones, dating back to 4,000 BC, are thought to have had some sort of religious or ceremonial significance. Be sure to visit the village as well, with its fine beaches and charming port.
