Day Trips From Porto
Surfing Along the Northern Coast
Northern Portugal has some of the continent’s best waves. One of the best locales to surf on the Northern Coast is Porto-Matosinhos, which lies close to Porto, the capital of the Norte Region, making it possible to take a day trip and return to Porto for a great meal and some drinks.
Guimaraes
Guimaraes’ old town is one of the world’s best preserved medieval quarters: which is why it is listed as a UNESCO heritage site. Head to its downtown, a veritable open-air museum. Enjoy the inviting bars and restaurants. Worth a visit are the Guimaraes Castle, PaalacaDuques de Braganca, and its Largo da Oliveria, a cobbled plaza with an astounding Gothic church.
Braga
